We often tie our health goals to our appearance. Some look in the mirror and say, “I love myself, so I don’t need to change,” while others may think, “I’m not doing enough.” But both need to realize that being healthy and fit isn’t about how we look on the outside. Sure, physical changes will happen, but the true transformation lies in how we feel on the inside.
Three months ago, when my son was jumping on a trampoline, I weighed 269 lbs. The weight limit on the trampoline was 240 lbs, and I kept telling my son, “I’m too big to jump on the trampoline.” I justified it by telling myself that I should love myself the way I am, without worrying about my size. But then, one day, we were playing and running down the street, and I couldn’t keep up with him. I had to stop and take breaks, and that’s when I realized something had to change.
Through my fitness journey, I discovered that self-love isn’t about how I look on the outside; it’s about what I’m able to accomplish for the people I love. That sense of self-love grew in a way I never expected. The trampoline I couldn’t jump on before? I’m on it all the time now, and accomplishing that has given me a sense of self-love I never want to lose.
