GET YOUR MONEY’S WORTH

The thing that used to drive me crazy as a personal trainer was when people would say, “I’ve paid a lot for these sessions, so I’m going to get my money’s worth.” Well, guess what? It’s not the personal trainer’s job for you to get your money’s worth; it’s yours. On average, a personal trainer only sees a client twice a week for up to an hour at most. It’s not possible for the trainer to ensure the client is doing everything right in just a one-hour session, twice a week.

People think it’s acceptable to indulge in appetizers, extra sides, desserts, and multiple drinks every weekend because having a good time is important. But when a trainer charges $60 an hour, it’s considered outrageous. This is one of the reasons why the United States and other countries lead in obesity rates, diabetes, heart disease, and many other illnesses. If people would stop spending over $100 on weekends for drinks and dinner, or $10 a day on a gallon-size Starbucks and bagel, they would realize they could easily afford personal training and truly get their money’s worth.

It’s not the personal trainer’s job to create permanent change in your health—it’s yours. So, order less, pay your trainer with a smile on your face, and make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.
